Internally Finned Radiant Tubes
Sandvik Material Technology had an enquiry as to whether it was possible to bend tubes with a length of approximatively 13000 mm and weighing 140 kg.
The challenge was that the Sandvik 353 MA alloy they used for the tubes, tubes that would be used in Ethylene installations, had 25 % Chromium and 35 % Nickel making it very difficult to handle. Furthermore high standards were set; 100 % control, roundness inferior to < 1 %, wall reduction, radius +/- 1 % flatness and dimension stability of the complete product.
After some initial trials, followed by improved procedures when the scope of the processes involved became clear, we have been producing Internally finned radiant tubes for Sandvik ever since.
